The Publishing Story: Dying to Restart

Greg Wiens and Dan Turner help church leaders and churches be healthy, and sometimes, they say, that means letting a church die—so that it can restart. Or as they say it, they wanted to help churches who need to choose a “strategic death for a resurrected life.”

Specific Services We Provided

They wanted to publish this unique message, so they reached out to us to help them publish the book. We helped them with:

  • Copyediting and proofreading
  • Cover design
  • Interior design and typesetting
  • eBook formatting
  • Writing the back cover copy and listing on Amazon

Our project manager worked closely with Greg and Dan throughout the process, providing them guidance at every step toward publishing on June 25, 2018.

They published a book that is now available around the world to help churches die so they can live again.

We appreciate the unique perspective of this book paired with their experience-based insights, especially their practical advice, their hope about restarting when the situation looks grim, and research-based approach.

We also appreciate the kind endorsement of our services from Greg Wiens: “Chad and YouPublish were very helpful and enjoyable to work with on this project. Their insight produced a book design of which we’re proud, and it continues to make an impact today. We are grateful for Chad and the work his team does for the kingdom”; and from Dan Turner: “I am truly thankful for the publishing expertise YouPublish brought to our project. They worked with us closely to get a cover and format for a book of which we could be truly proud. We were able to publish the book with the confidence that it had the professional look and feel to which our readers would respond.”

More About the Book

From the back cover

With 90 percent of churches either declining or plateauing, what must church leaders do in response? Greg Wiens and Dan Turner offer time-tested solutions, practical advice, and real-life stories for those who want—and need—to restart their church.

Dying to Restart is the first comprehensive resource to help declining churches successfully “die” so they can live again. With two decades of relevant experience, Wiens and Turner apply the difference between “revitalizing” and “restarting” a church in practical terms. Understand the qualitative and quantitative differences that are vital for successfully restarting a dying church.

The goal of the restart is not to replace the old version of a church with a new, updated version. Rather, the goal of a restart is to create a wholly different body with holy different DNA. Do you need to let your church die with dignity–so it can truly start again?

“A guidebook that gives you practical next steps for leading your church into a new life and a gut check about whether or not you are willing to give up your old identity to take hold of what God has for you.”

Dan Holland, author, coach, planting pastor, restart pastor, and current lead pastor of Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Texas

“Movement-minded leaders of all types will find Dying to Restart a refreshingly optimistic and practical read.”

Dr. Ed Love, Director of Church Multiplication for The Wesleyan Church

“This book contains remarkable insights about an increasingly important topic in our culture.”

Reggie McNeal, best-selling author of Kingdom Come and Kingdom Collaborators

“A must read for those who grasp the fact that their greatest faith-filled, generous act may yet be ahead!”

Wayne Schmidt, General Superintendent of the Wesleyan Church
