The Publishing Story: Real Life Theology

Jason Henderson and Bobby Harrington of Renew.org came to us with a major task: to help them edit, design, and publish a lay-person’s systematic theology—in twelve volumes, plus a collection of all twelve into one book!

While they had an editorial director on staff, they wanted additional editing input for this important set of resources. Plus, they needed help creating a metabrand for this series of books. That is, they needed us to not only create a cover but twelve covers that looked good together, yet had unique elements.

Specific Services We Provided

So we helped them with:

• Total project management
• Macro-editing, copyediting, and proofreading
• Series cover design (designed the main book’s cover)
• Individual books cover design (front, back, and spine)
• Interior design and typesetting
• eBook formatting

At each step of the way, we guided the team on elements like trim size, interior design features, and how to edit in a consistent way books from various authors for a niche audience.

We helped Renew publish Real Life Theology on 17 September 2021 for readers around the world, which has helped fuel their mission to renew the teachings of Jesus in a way the fuels disciple making.

Bobby Harrington (DMin, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is CEO of Renew.org and Discipleship.org, both national disciple making networks. Bobby is the founding and Lead Pastor of Harpeth Christian Church. He is author or coauthor of more than a dozen books on disciple making.

Daniel McCoy (PhD, North-West University) is Editorial Director of Renew.org. He has created classes on philosophy, ethics, and world religions for Ozark Christian College.
